Danube Power Plant

Danube Power Plant
Asten, Austria

Danube Power Plant is a hydraulic power plant located in Asten, Austria. It is operated under Verbund Austrian Hydro Power AG. The power plant had a problem in pumping silt.

To inspect the turbine, the inspection chamber including intake, discharge, and headrace tunnel must be completely drained.
However, clean water pumps, that had been used before the introduction of a Tsurumi pump, had always a risk of pumping silt and clay contained in the unfiltered water from the Danube.

The Tsurumi LH845 model has been perfectly suited for the duty.
It can also operate under an extreme silting condition after flooding.
