Our Approach to Human Rights

The Tsurumi Group recognizes that our business activities always entail direct or indirect human rights risks. At the same time, we believe that respecting the human rights of all individuals is the responsibility of a company that provides products throughout the world. We also believe that respecting human rights is essential to earning the trust and confidence of our stakeholders, enhancing our social reputation, and ensuring sustainable business activities. The Tsurumi Group has established the following human rights policy to put this approach into practice and is engaging in business activities accordingly.

Human Rights Policy

  • Basic Approach

The Tsurumi Group supports and respects the international norms in the International Bill of Human Rights (the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights), which stipulates the basic human rights that should be enjoyed by all people around the world; the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its Follow-up by the International Labour Organization (ILO), which stipulate the basic rights in labor; and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights by the United Nations. We fulfill our responsibility to respect human rights throughout our corporate activities, including the prohibition of child labor, forced labor and human trafficking; the exercise of freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; and the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.

The Tsurumi Group complies with the laws and regulations of each country and region. If there is an inconsistency between international human rights norms and the laws and regulations of each country and region, we seek a way of respecting international norms while complying with the laws and regulations of those regions and countries.

In addition to respecting basic human rights, the Tsurumi Group respects the diversity, personality, individuality, and privacy of individuals. We do not condone any form of human rights violations based on gender, age, sexual orientation or gender identity, place of origin, family lineage, social status, nationality, race, ethnicity, beliefs, religion, illness, disability, or any other factor.

  • Scope of Application

This policy applies to all Tsurumi executives and employees including part-time, contract, and dispatched employees. We also encourage the suppliers and business partners involved in the products and services provided by Tsurumi Manufacturing to support this policy.

  • Human Rights Due Diligence

Based on the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights by the United Nations, the Tsurumi Group has established a human rights due diligence mechanism to identify adverse impacts on human rights and then work to prevent or mitigate them.

  • Remedy

If it becomes evident that the Tsurumi Group has caused or been involved in adverse impacts on human rights, we will endeavor to remedy that situation through the appropriate procedures.
