Hawaiian Cement Plant

Hawaii, U.S.A.

At one of Oahu's largest cement quarry and ready-mix plant, two Tsurumi KRS2-80 slurry pumps were delivered to replace with a competitor's pumps. One of the pumps is being used in their truck washout sump where the mixers wash-down their drums. The materials in the sump range from 3/4" basalt rock to the fine sand and cement slurry that washout of fifty or more mixers a day, six days a week.

This pump was purchased in replacement of another brand which had been working satisfactory for a long time, however, the seal could not handle the slurry and required to be changed out about every six months.
The Tsurumi KRS-80 did not require the replacement of shaft seal for five years. The maintenance was just cleaning the built-up slurry on the surface of the pump body.
